Waist to Hip Ratio Calculator

Calculator for Determining Your Waist-to-Hip Ratio

The waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is a valuable tool for predicting an individual’s risk of various diseases, including metabolic disorders, diabetes, and heart disease. It is a metric commonly used by health care professionals and insurance companies to assess health risks.

Why is WHR Important?

Research has shown that individuals with more weight around their waist are at a higher risk of developing heart disease and diabetes. For men, a WHR of 1.0 or higher indicates a high risk, while for women, a WHR of 0.85 or higher is considered high risk.

How to Calculate Your WHR

To calculate your WHR, you’ll need to measure your waist circumference and your hip circumference. Your waist measurement should be taken at the smallest circumference of your waist, usually just above the belly button. Your hip measurement should be taken at the widest part of your hips. Once you have these measurements, simply divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement to get your WHR.

Using the Calculator

Use the calculator below to determine your WHR. Enter your waist measurement and hip measurement in the fields provided and click “Calculate” to get your WHR. Remember, this is just a guideline, and it’s always best to consult with your doctor for a more accurate assessment of your health risks.

Important Considerations

While the WHR can provide valuable insights into your health risks, it’s essential to remember that it’s just one of many factors to consider. Lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, and overall health status also play a significant role in determining your risk of developing diseases. Always consult with your healthcare provider for a comprehensive assessment of your health and risk factors.
